Idol Spotlight: The World Standard

One of the rising groups in the idol scene over the past few years, particularly over the past twelve months, has been “The World Standard” (Wa-Suta). With their cat personas, cute looks and songs that are musically and thematically diverse, they have been going from strength to strength. Wa-Suta is a part of the iDol Street group (Super Girls, Cheeky Parade, Gem), and was formed in March 2015, releasing their first album “The World Standard” in May of 2016.

Apart from their aesthetic, one of the things that helps “Wa-Suta” stand out is that they actively encourage their fans to take photos and post to social media – the polar opposite to what many of the larger idol bands encourage. This strategy has very likely assisted in broadening their fanbase.

The release of a fourth single – 最上級ぱらどっくす(October 18, 2017), and a new album is imminent.
